What was it that got you into real estate in the first place? For me, it was to have freedom – and to finally get paid according to my results, not according the minutes I worked that week (yes, I actually had a boss who pointed out that my clock was 2 minutes fast and I had been “leaving early.”) What about you?
For many of us, it’s about creating freedom from the 9-5 (although you know the definition of an entrepreneur? It’s someone willing to work 80 hours/week so they don’t have to work 40.) So, if we got into real estate for the freedom, why are so many of us stressed out, lost in chaos and feeling anything but free? Probably because the truth of real estate is that it takes a team to do it at a high level – and to create a real business – one that you could sell at some point, whether or not you ever DO sell it.
If you’re familiar with the MREA Organizational Model, my absolute favorite level is 4 part 1. Where it’s you, an admin or two and a showing partner. Man, that model can get you as high as 60-65% profit! Killer! Except, once you stop working, the money stops, too. OK, but if you LOVE this model, you can use it to create the cash flow to buy your freedom. Knowing that someday you’ll stop working and the money from your real estate business will stop, but that you’ve invested wisely and your lifestyle won’t suffer. And if you want more than that?
