The “cheaping out” trap

Feb 27, 2023

Somehow we got the message that we, as real estate agents, shouldn’t be looking for “good” (read “expensive”) help. It seems that I speak with so many agents across the country that consistently look for the cheapest help they can find, then complain that they have no skills or work ethic. I wonder if perhaps this is somehow intentional. Maybe you’re like me, I’m not a control freak – so long as I’m in control, I never freak. Well, if I cheap out when I hire, clearly I can’t give up control! I mean, what could they mess up??

How then, does cheaping out when hiring become a trap? Well, we get trapped running, running, running on the hamster wheel with no hope of getting out. Sure, you have the “freedom” of being a real estate agents, but when was the last time you turned off your phone? You actually watched a movie with your family? Or sat down to dinner uninterrupted?

What if you found the most amazing admin you could find? Someone you paid $60k, $80k, maybe even $100,000 per year?? What could your life look like? When you have someone who takes care of all the details, makes sure your mailings and events are pulled off consistently, that your clients adore? What becomes possible then?
