As I look around, I see teams practically begging people to “join their team!” And yet, what, exactly, are you asking them to join? One of the things high performers look for is a place with high standards. Sure, you can have a lot of people, and if you want them to perform at a high level, they need to be surrounded by others who hold themselves to a high standard. You know the old saying “birds of a feather…”
So, what does this mean, in the real world? That means setting performance standards and (gasp!) sticking to them. If the standard is two signed representation agreements every week, how many “chances” does someone get if they aren’t hitting that standard? If the conversion rate standard is 70%, what if I don’t hit it this week? Next week? This month?
Until you set clear standards, and make clear what happens when someone doesn’t hit those standards, you may find yourself with a revolving door of mediocre performers and the people who want to soar fly away. Sure, it’s uncomfortable, and so is replacing them over and over again.
